Yay! Its moving day.

Today is finally the day! After what has felt like years of searching for the perfect place to live (okay, okay....it was only a month, but has totally felt longer!) I get to move into my new studio apartment. I am so excited that I have even had a hard time trying to get to sleep the past couple of nights. But today is the day and the wait is finally over!

I know that people do this all the time and it really isn't that big of a deal, but it is to me. This will be my first little (and I mean little!) home all to myself. There will be no roommates or parents, just me. And that is exciting...scary, but exciting and I am totally looking forward to it.

Once I get all set up I plan to do a couple of posts about my new home and especially one on the kitchen. I can't wait to get back into my routine of baking and posting for you all again. So just hang tight for a few more days and Sunflour Cottage Creations will be back in action!

New Kitchen Must Haves

Thursday, July 24, 2014

After weeks and weeks of apartment hunting, I finally found a great little place that I will be moving into early next week! I am still without a kitchen for a few more days, but I truly cannot wait to get back to work making and baking for you all.

Since I am starting fresh in a new place and new state, I need to get some new gadgets and gizmos to get my kitchen in top shape. My weekends have been filled with lots of window shopping and today I have compiled a list of some of my must haves.

1. Breville Compact Smart Oven - This thing is amazing! My mom has the large convection counter oven and its awesome for making toast, baking small batched of cookie or cupcakes, and great for reheating leftovers.
2. Le Creuset Signature Cast-Iron Round Dutch Oven - I am a lover of Le Creuset and this cast-iron dutch oven is great for making soups and stews to meat roasts and can move from the stove top to the oven with ease.
3. Threshold 16 Piece Round Beaded Dinnerware Set - White - Since I am going with a Parisian theme in the kitchen and living room, I wanted dinnerware that had a French Cafe feel. I fell in love this set at Target and really like the round beaded detail.
4. KitchenAid Raspberry Ice 5-Quart Stand Mixer - KitchenAid stand mixers are the best and I love the color of mine. I already have this, but to me...a KitchenAid mixer is a must need for anyone who loves to bake!
5. Chicago Metallic Commercial II Quarter Sheet Pan - Everyone needs some great baking sheets and these are nice quality.
6. Calphalon Elite Nonstick 3 Piece Fry Pan & Saute Pan Set - These seem like great sturdy pans and the Calphalon nonstick is great for making omelets, pancakes and other delicious foods.
7. Chicago Cutlery 18 Piece Block Set - These knives are great a price and from the reviews, seem to be a quality set.
