When I am on vacation the last thing that I want to do is spend a lot of time on my makeup and lug around tons of products.  Today I am giving you all a peek inside my travel makeup bag and sharing the products that I use for a 10-minute natural and easy on-the-go look!

A few months ago I switched from using my trusted BareMinerals powder foundation to IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ in the shade "Light" and haven't looked back.  It has buildable coverage, blends in evenly and leaves my skin looking fresh while getting the benefits of a moisturizer, SPF 50+, anti-aging peptides, vitamins, and collagen.

For light and brightening under eye coverage, I use IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer in the shade "Medium" and love how it conceals my dark circles and brightens up my face.  Most days for eyeshadow I use my Urban Decay Naked Palette, but for traveling I wanted to reduce the size of the palette and picked up this E.L.F. Cosmetics Contouring Clay Eyeshadow in "Necessary Nudes".  In the summer I like to add a little warmth to my face and have been loving this E.L.F. Cosmetics Bronzer in "Golden".  I like that it has a little shimmer to it and can act as a highlighter as well.

With trying to keep product sizes on the smaller side, I travel with Covergirl Cheekers Blush in the shades "Natural Rose" or "Deep Plum".

I never travel without my Revlon Extra Curl Eyelash Curler and have been loving L'Oreal's Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara for the past couple of months.  Both products make my lashes feel like a million bucks!

I finish my look off with a light dusting of IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro Powder on my face using my favorite of all time IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Wand Ball Powder Brush #8.  Once I am happy with my makeup I set it with Urban Decay's De-Slick Oil-Control Setting Spray, swipe on some ChapStick Total Hydration Moisture + Tint in the shade "Pink Nude" on my lips and I'm ready to take on the day!

Friday Favorites (on a Saturday)

Happy Friday (well technically Saturday) and Memorial Day Weekend everyone!  I don't have any major plans except packing for my vacation and tons of relaxing.  Sometimes no plans are the best plans, am I right?!

I am loving the color, pattern, and neckline of this dress.   You can never go wrong with a bow detail in my book!

If you are having a BBQ or together this weekend and are looking for easy desserts, you should give these or these a try.

Last week I bought bubly sparkling water and love how cute the branding is on the cans.  The tabs on top say "hiiii!" or "hey u!" and have cute sayings on the side like "hold my can".  I am a sucker for anything pink and adorable branding.

I have added these to my baking bucket list and I wouldn't mind sipping on this Froze by the pool this summer...or maybe this weekend :)

Packing Checklist

Tuesday, May 22, 2018

Do you ever feel like you overpack for trips or end up forgetting things that you really need?  Well, I sure do and to be honest, packing has never been one of my strong suits.  Most of the time my impulse is to pack my entire closet because I like to have options and can't make decisions...anyone else out there with me on this!?  Thoughts like "What if it snows?" or "I should bring shorts in case there is a heatwave in Alaska!" happen and the next thing I know my suitcase weighs a million pounds and I can't even remember what is in it.

But since I started using a physical packing checklist for trips instead of my mental checklist, I have found that I am able to plan and pack the appropriate amount of outfits and accessories, I don't end up bringing frivolous items "just because" and don't forget important items that I will need on my trip!

My packing checklist is pretty general and some of the items you may find will not pertain to a particular trip, but overall it is a great checklist that covers multiple areas that might get overlooked when preparing for your travels.

I am off on a two-week vacation to England and Scotland in a week and will be using this checklist when I start packing over the weekend.  A swimsuit and coverup are not items that I am going to use so I will scratch those off my list for this vacation, but I will be sure to bring a heavy weatherproof jacket, scarf, and rainboots for exploring the Highlands in Scotland!

Happy Friday!

Now that the 2017-18 athletic season is winding down I have more free time on the weekends to bake which I am super excited about!  A few months ago one of my favorite people to follow on Instagram for all things baking, sprinkles and pink published an adorable book called Sweet Bake Shop.  I made Tess's confetti sprinkle cookies from her cookbook and they were a hit with friends and co-workers.  I can't wait to try more recipes this summer and share them with you all here on the blog.

In less then two weeks I leave for a trip to England and Scotland with my mom!  I have done a little prep shopping and picked up this Barbour Hanover Jacket in evergreen and think it will be perfect for the very unpredictable weather in Scotland!

Looking for an easy, delicious and low-carb breakfast?  Check out my Avocado Toad in the Hole recipe that I posted on the blog a few days ago.

Straw purses the "it" bag of the season and I am loving this crossbody one in pink multi!

I feel like every pool should have one of these cuties floating in it this summer.

Will you be watching the royal wedding tomorrow morning?   I won't be getting up at 1AM to watch in California but will DVR it and watch later in the morning.  Super excited to see Meghan's dress!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Avocado Toad in the Hole

Wednesday, May 16, 2018

I love a quick and satisfying breakfast, especially during the work week when my time in the mornings is limited.  This recipe for avocado toad in the hole is delicious, a great source of protein, low-carb and ready in a snap!

Avocado Toad in the Hole
{yield: 1 serving}

1 large Hass avocado
2 large eggs
1 slice of cooked bacon
Kosher salt and cracked pepper to taste

Start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees.  Then take a large avocado and cut it in half and remove the pit.  Using a spoon, scoop out some avocado from the center to make the pit hole a little wider for the egg to fit without spilling over the sides.

Then place the avocado halfs cut side up into a small oven safe baking dish.  Gently crack an egg into each half and season with Kosher salt and cracked pepper.

Place the baking dish into the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the eggs are done to your likeness.  I pulled mine out at about 17 and the eggs were a perfect over-medium yolk consistency.

Top with a piece of crumbled bacon to add a bit of texture or if you are not feeling the bacon, top it off with diced tomatoes or fresh salsa.

Enjoy!

Hello and happy Friday! With spring in full force, I have been looking for the perfect shoe to wear with a lot of my light and flowy dresses.  After searching high and low, I ended up getting these super cute espadrilles.

Speaking of light and flowy dresses, if you haven't already you need to check out the amazing new dress collection by Julia Engel from Gal Meets Glam!  When the collection launched last month I wanted to buy every single dress.  I purchased the Samantha and Margaret and both are just even better in person and fit like they were made just for me.

Loving my new planner!  I can't wait for August 2018.

This saying is me in a nutshell!
